I was honestly going to write an entire essay
about why I’m not a fan of Lady Gaga.
But then I got lazy.
So I shall summarise.
It’s not that I hate Lady Gaga, mind you, it’s just that I thought
I was becoming a bona fide fan, and then after a while
this was to change rather drastically.
So before Gaga-ites prepare to crucify me I reiterate…
I don’t hate her! I just … am not a fan.

Summary:
1. I like that she always surprises. Boo-chak!
Excitement is good.
2. But OMG the woman should let her music and dress
sense do the talking. She cannot, I repeat, cannot speak.
Because every time she speaks, she sounds like the most
pretentious, cliched little starlet/poptart ever.
Do whatever you like, it’s hot. Just can you not talk about it
too much? You lower your own points every time you try explaining
it.
Case in point:
Quotes:
OMG 1.
“If somebody said to me, ‘What you do isn’t art,’ I would say, They’re right. Yes it is, no it isn’t, absolutely, perhaps, it’s irrelevant, it’s important…that’s what this is all about, really. For me, more than anything, I want to do something important. It’s gotta be important. If it’s coming out of my mouth, if it’s going on my body, if it’s going on TV, it better be important.”
*With all due respect. You sing about Muh muh muh muh poker face and Just just just just Dance. I love ‘em, they’re awesome to dance to, they are catchy. But it’s not exactly world or life-changing subjects, thank you very much.
OMG 2.
“I feel like I have so much to do… My true legacy will be the test of time, and whether I can sustain a space in pop culture and really make stuff that will have a genuine impact.”
*Again, with all due respect, even Madonna, U2 and MJ didn’t come out talking about their legacy and impact. Hello, if you are going to be iconic, you don’t have to talk about things like that. People will do it for you. Perasan much?
OMG 3
“Being a woman in the pop world, sexuality is half poison and half liberation. What’s the line? I don’t have a line. I am the most sexually free woman on the planet, and I genuinely am empowered from a very honest place by my sexuality. What’s more primal than sex? I mean, it’s so honest. If I didn’t think I had the talent to back that up, I wouldn’t have done it.”
* Cone-shape bra? Madonna did it. Being sexually free as empowerment? This concept has been explored by songstresses like Madonna (again) and Tori, to Janet and Lil Kim. Just because you don’t know how to wear pants does not mean you are now front line diva of Sexual Empowerment.
OMG 4
“I just shot these art films called ‘crevettes’. That’s what I call them. It means shrimps, in French. And shrimps are small, but decadent and tasty, which is how I think my films should be.”
*Listen, I know your videos are pretty entertaining and are quite out-there music videos…but even the most inspiring videos out there have not been labelled ‘ART FILMS’ by the singers or bands. Even Bjork, who has some insanely gorgeous videos out there, has not called her own stuff ‘ART FILMS’, in fact she is quite happy to let her directors (like Gondry) take credit for their artistry. Get over yourself.
OMG 5
“If I decide to make a coat red in the show, it’s not just red. I think: is it communist red? Is it cherry cordial? Is it ruby red? Or is it apple red? Or the big red balloon red? I mean there’s like so many fucking different kinds of red. And so you have to say, well, what are we trying to say in this scene? Is it a happy red? Or a sad red? Is it a lace red? Or a leather red? Or a wool red? It’s like there are so many components to making a show and making art, and my school taught me how to think that way.”
*Someone just give me a gun now so I can shoot myself in the head.
OMG 6
“This is all part of a movement. My artistry is much deeper than fashion or anything like that: I love pop music, and I want to bring it back.”
* She’s obviously inspired by art collectives like Warhol’s ‘Factory’ and all, but I would hardly call her Haus of Gaga (Subpoint OMG) a ‘movement’. And oi, as exciting as you are, pop music is around, you are not reviving anything.
OMG 7
“Lady Gaga is a lie. I am a lie, and every day I kill to make it true.”
* …….. -_-
Can anybody spell…. pretentious?

Pix from JustJared.com
I know there are a lot of Gaga fans out there so I’m going to make
a peace offering.
1) I love that her performances are always so in-your-face interesting. You can’t help but watch.
2) Her “art”, while I grimace at some “conceptual fashion pieces”, can be pretty wonderful to look at. I’d rather be entertained than bored by one’s garb, I guess.
3) Her tunes are so catchy it’s just wonderfully fun to sing them. Muh muh muh muh! Papa-paparazzi! I swear there was one week I couldn’t stop saying ‘let’s have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick’.
4) She had to really work to get where she is, and she’s still really busting her chops, travelling everywhere like a mad woman and working all the time on her clothes, performances, collaborations. Got to respect the dedication.
5) She’s got a really nice posterior. I’m just saying. Probably one of the nicest in music-dom!
So basically, I do quite enjoy her work.
I just wish … she would just not talk about it.
Cause she sounds like a major inflated dumbass i would
like to clobber when she does.
There, I’ve said it.
Jangan marah, you.
