Points & Random Pictures Which Might
or Might Not Correspond To Them
(this post was written on Thursday) :p
1. I finally watched UP yesterday with dear Priscilla. Yes, and I
cried like the baby that I am. I always seem to cry at the movies I watch
with her LOL!
I loved it. Because well, I love all these wonderful Pixar movies,
but more importantly, because the story line was one about living
your adventure. Loving and living. Appreciating the moment.
All themes to take into account when you have just resigned, of course.
The adventure theme has played quite frequently in my life
recently.
My mom said to me some time ago before I actually quit that “if you still have
that adventure in you girl, just go for it. Go now, get it out
of your system.“
I love that my mom, who is not really like me, truly
understands me.
Thoomui, who never fails to encourage those she loves
in so many ways, sent a card all the way from Australia,
which I received two days ago.
This was its cover.

You're the best, Thoomui
She always makes me feel like I can do anything.
What would you do without friends like these I don’t know.
And of course my recent trip to Saigon, where Joyce Mamasan
encouraged me to go for the stars, and Falla Tan‘s email today that
reminded me about something I used to say in school a lot ..
“Remember your old mantra in school? ‘Up to me lah!’ :) ” … and now
this movie last night which basically says …
Go make your own adventures. And have a blast.
Okay I think I get you God!
I get the picture!
And I’m on the case.
2. Of men
Lately I find that men are a little pushy with me. I’m not talking
about one person, or two, or three. I’m talking about several men
these days who seem to think I like being bossed around.
Funny thing is these are people who are not douchebags,
they are people I kind of like, actually.
However.
I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m not working anymore and
it’s just a matter of me having more time to notice these things.
In any case, these men seem to try to muscle talk their
way into my days, and in such a language that makes me think:
a) Is chivalry really dead?
b) Do men think they can be foul & crude to me just because
they think I’m not-so-stupid & would be impressed by
their er .. way with words? Hello?
c) Is it because of some reputation I’ve built up where I’m like,
oh cool with all this kah? Hello? Do you really know me?
d) Do they really think girls like this sorta thing kah?
Well excuse me for butting into your world of supercool machismo but,
you’re really trying that with the wrong girl.
I’m not expecting Cary Grant or whatever, but oi – watch how you speak.
If that’s the way you get people to spend time with you,
you can spend it with some other folk and not me.
Thank you kindly.

My last glance at PM's office on 25th Aug, walking out. May never go in there again!
3. I wonder how Daw Suu Kyi is doing.
It’s always like this. A bit of noise, then it dies down, then it goes up,
then it dies down again. And the junta knows this.

4. Yesterday I was berbuka puasa-ing with Mr Reza Salleh aka kudapuff
at Carl’s Junior. Well, we didn’t really buka there, it was completely
packed! But we wanted to stick to the Carl’s Junior goal and so broke fast
somewhere smaller, with just a bit of bite and drink so we could
go back up to sink our teeth into those burgers.
Okay so it wasn’t so Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle,
but when we finally (kena tunggu meja still, hokay) bit into
those juicy morsels of yum … we knew it was worth the wait.
Mmmm Portobello Mushroom Burger!
That was digressing.
Anyhoo, what was really cool was that as we sat down at (or super
choped) the table we finally got, the previous diners had
so politely arranged all their trash on the tray.
There were 5 of them, so it was a lot of trash, and I was
so pleasantly surprised to see that even though us two had
been waiting for that table like vultures and they knew
we were in a hurry to eat, they still managed to put
all that waste and compile it ever so neatly on one tray.
And I swear they must have wiped the table a bit with a serviette!
When the cleaning lady came around it was so convenient for her
to just angkat the thing away.
I pointed it out to Reza who said: “They must have worked at a joint
like this before so they know what it’s like.”
I’m not saying I’m a litterbug, but I never thought about
it that way before – making it easier for people.
My fault I guess for thinking so fast (or not thinking at all)
in fast food joints sometimes.
I’m so inspired I think I’m going to do
the same now everywhere I go.
Make it easier for people, even if it’s just little acts of random.
Because if I was pleased by that, it’d be nice to spread
a little bit of that around.

The sky, taken on 23rd August. It was so beautiful that day, remember?
5. And to end points for today, please read
Your Malaysia isn’t my Malaysia.
It’s in your face, it’s slightly disturbing, and it makes you think.
As we are whining, whining, whining all the time over
here in the West, the East seems to have got it.
They’ve got it, they’ve got the One Malaysia concept.
All my colleagues/peers who have gone over there to
work or live never want to come back. NEVER.
But we still continue to f*ck ‘em over.
It’s a disgrace.
I’m going to get to know the East a lot better from now on.
Beginning this Sunday.
