Keep forgetting about this, but how could I?
For those who haven’t been lucky enough to watch
Where the Wild Things Are yet, perhaps
you will be inspired by the awesome soundtrack to
get your hands on it, by hook or crook.
My travel buddies and I watched it on a quiet night out
in Roanoke, Virginia, after we had put laundry in
at the motel we were staying at and decided to go to
the nearest cinema.
It was worth the months of waiting, and I left the cinema that
night all happy and daydreamy.
The soundtrack, which I had been waiting for ever so eagerly is
so beautiful, I’m just even more in awe of Karen O.
Okay, so she collaborated with a bunch of other musicians,
but she is head honcho, thus Karen O and the Kids.
I like that she worked together with her ex-boyfriend, Spike Jonze,
on this dreamy vision of a movie. Genius loves company, as
they say, regardless of relationship cessation.
And this song … ah this song just makes my heart run laps around galaxies.
If you haven’t already guessed by now, I am so recommending
the full soundtrack for WTWTA.
It’s a definite buy, just like the soundtrack for Into the Wild.
Yes, both are wildly wonderful.
Both are the kinds of soundtracks you want playing when
you sit in the wilderness,
with the sunset casting all shades
of beautiful around you,
with butterflies dancing on the breeze,
with your hands nestled in the softest of grass,
with your mind and heart ten-storeys high.

It’s this kind of song that sticks in your mind, especially when you’re alone at night in the forests (or some far away place) with nothing but stars above you and crickets chirping away. It also works when it rains. ;)
We’ll listen to it next time when we are in the forests, mate ;)
